NLEX, SCTEX, and CAVITEX Gear Up for All Saints Day Traffic

Motorists heading for the Undas break can expect comfortable and convenient travel at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX).

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC), Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), PEA Tollway Corporation (PEATC), and Tollways Management Corporation (TMC) will implement programs to assist motorists and to ease the heavy traffic volume expected during the break.

Traffic is expected to increase by 10-15% from October 31 to November 2. Heavy volume is expected in the afternoon of October 31 to November 1 at the Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue, and Dau Toll Plazas. On the other hand, traffic at Bocaue Toll Plaza of NLEX is likely to become heavier as motorists go back to Metro Manila on November 1, 2 and 3.

In response to the expected traffic increase, NLEX will beef up its manpower. Ambulant tellers will be on standby at the Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue and Dau Toll Plazas on October 31 and November 1 and at the Bocaue Toll Plaza from November 1 to 3. Spare lanes will be opened on October 31 and November 1 at Dau and on November 1 and 2 at the Bocaue Toll Plaza or as necessary.

Additional traffic management and security personnel will also be deployed from October 31 to November 3 to ensure safety and security of the motorists. Roadworks will also be suspended from October 29 to November 3 to give way to the expected heavy traffic.

On October 31, additional patrol crews and traffic marshals will be deployed at the Ciudad de Victoria (Philippine Arena) in NLEX Bocaue to manage the EVM Awards; at least 65,000 attendees are expected to join this event.

NLEX will also implement its motorist assistance program, “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko.”  Like in previous holidays, the program will provide free first aid treatments and basic mechanic services to motorists in designated locations along NLEX and SFEX. This program will run from October 30 to November 2.

The Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko Assistance Centers can be found in all nine fuel stations in NLEX, and one fuel station in SFEX.

At SCTEX, traffic is projected to increase by 10 to 15%. Heavy volume is expected at the Mabalacat entry, La Paz (Tarlac), San Miguel and Tipo Exits from October 31 to November 1. Advance collection of toll fees will be implemented at the Mabalacat Entry for La Paz (Tarlac)-bound vehicles from October 30 to November 1; likewise, manual lanes will also be set up at San Miguel and Tarlac Exits to accommodate the high volume.

On the other hand, for Manila-bound vehicles, traffic build up is expected from November 1 to 3 at the Mabalacat Interchange of SCTEX. Sufficient manpower and equipment will be deployed by Toll and Traffic operations to minimize delay at the plaza and maintain the best level of service possible. Additional manual toll booths will be set up at the shoulder during this period to ease traffic. Class 1 motorists are advised to take the rightmost lane of the toll plaza to access the said booths.

To ensure fast travel, SCTEX will likewise suspend Roadworks from October 29 to November 3.

SCTEX will also have the Motorist Assistance Camp from October 31 to November 2 (7am to 7pm); the two camp sites in SCTEX will be located along Km.76 (Pitabunan Overpass, Dinalupihan Rest Bay Area) and Km.21 (Rest Area, Subic bound).

For both NLEX and SCTEX, toll tellers will be wearing Halloween costumes to add fun to the weekend travel.

In CAVITEX, lower traffic volume is expected this Undas break. Nonetheless, additional preparations are made to ensure continued motorists’ safety and convenience. CAVITEX will deploy additional toll tellers and traffic patrol officers when the need arises.

Motorists travelling CAVITEX can be assured that they will continue to enjoy the same level of quality service during this period.

Travel information regarding the latest traffic situation and other travel advisories at NLEX will be available online through the North Luzon Integrated Guide and Travel Advisory System or NLigtas.
