Expanding the notion that the expressway is not only the road, but also the communities around it, MNTC launched the a cleanup drive for Tullahan River and San Francisco and Dario Creeks.

MNTC adopted a kilometer-long stretch of the Tullahan River running through Barangay Talipapa in Quezon City, Barangay Ugong in Valenzuela City and Barangay 164 in Caloocan City.  MNTC installed barriers to prevent the intrusion of solid waste in the river and conducts a regular cleanup drives with riverside communities.  Engaging and empowering people to clean and keep it clean, MNTC educates residents along the Tullahan on advanced river cleaning and resource management techniques in seminars and workshops that teach methods such as vermicomposting and recycling.

MNTC is also doing a regular cleanup of San Francisco and Dario Creeks with residents of Barangay Baesa and Apolonio Samson in Quezon City --- in support of Congressman Kit Belmonte’s “Sapa Ko Mahal Ko” program.

It also intends to train these children to be watchers of Tullahan River and inspire them to join the regular cleanup drive in their respective areas.

The NLEX Tullahan Junior Patrol is a spinoff of the company’s existing CSR program at Tullahan where a group of hundred volunteers has been conducting monthly cleanup drives in 1.5-kilometer-stretch of the Tullahan River since 2010.
